Detalii despre spot
Here is a little bit of a blast from the past. I spotted this Local Motors Rally Fighter driving down and later parked on Greenwich Avenue on 11/30/2013. This was owned by a 3D printing company called MakerBot. Back in the early 2010s, 3D printing was supposedly going to be the "next big thing" and a bunch of startup tech companies started emerging out of nowhere to bring 3D printing to the general public. MakerBot was based out of New York City and they made and sold desktop 3D printers where one could easily make 3D printed products using their computer. For those that don't know, the shtick with the Local Motors Rally Fighter was that it was made exclusively out of 3D-printed parts. MakerBot had this one and drove around in it to promote the new MakerBot store that had just recently opened in the Greenwich business district. Unfortunately, 3D printing by the general public did not take off like everyone thought it would and all physical MakerBot locations closed down just two years later in 2015. Still, this is the first time I have ever seen a Local Motors Rally Fighter and I haven't seen one in the 11 years since. Last photo is of me at 14 sitting in the drivers seat taken by my mom with my camera at the time.
